This publication details the proceedings of 'Safeguarding Endangered Cultural Heritage: International Conference for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage in Conflict Areas', an initiative by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Francois Hollande, former President of France. The conference took place in Abu Dhabi in December 2016 and resulted in the 'Abu Dhabi Declaration' to protect cultural heritage during armed conflict. The forum announced an international fund and also a network of museums to become safe havens for artworks and archaeological objects in regions endangered by conflict. This publication presents the 48 speeches and statements at the conference, from heads of state, members of private and non-governmental organisations, other dignitaries and experts.
